Privacy Policy

Your files, your privacy

We built Unmarkify to clean watermarks fast without compromising your data. This page explains exactly what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Last updated: May 24, 2026

Browser-based processing

Your files are processed right in your browser. No accounts, and nothing is uploaded to or stored on our servers.

No uploads, no storage

Because processing happens in your browser, your files are never sent to or stored on our servers.

No signup required

You can use the core tools without creating an account. We only collect what we strictly need.

No selling of data

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data or uploaded content with third parties.

1. Overview

Unmarkify ("we", "our", "us") provides AI-assisted tools to remove watermarks and clean exports from files such as Gemini-generated images, NotebookLM exports, PDFs, presentations, and other supported media.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit unmarkify.com or use our tools, how we use that information, and the rights you have over it. By using Unmarkify you agree to the practices described here.

2. Data we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to operate the service:

  • Files you upload: Images, PDFs, presentations, or other documents you submit to be processed. These are used solely to perform the cleaning task you requested.
  • Technical data: Browser type, device type, operating system, IP address, language, and similar information sent automatically by your browser.
  • Usage data: Aggregated, non-identifying information such as which tool was used, processing time, and approximate file size, used to improve performance.
  • Contact data (optional): If you reach out via the contact form or email, we store the message and your email so we can reply.
What we do NOT collect
We do not require accounts, do not ask for payment details for free tools, and do not collect government IDs, biometric data, or any sensitive personal information for the basic service.

3. How we use your data

We use the data we collect only to:

  • Process the file you uploaded and return the cleaned output to you.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the website and tools.
  • Detect, prevent, and investigate abuse, fraud, or security incidents.
  • Respond to support requests and user-submitted feedback.
  • Comply with legal obligations where required.

We do not use uploaded files to train AI models, build profiles about you, or show you personalised advertising.

4. File handling and processing

Wherever technically possible, processing happens directly inside your browser so the file never leaves your device. Some heavier formats (large PDFs, video, presentations with embedded media) require server-side processing.

  • Encryption in transit: All file uploads and downloads use HTTPS (TLS).
  • Short-lived storage: When server-side processing is needed, files are stored temporarily on isolated processing nodes and deleted automatically once the job completes or after a short retention window (typically within 1 hour).
  • No human review: Your files are processed by automated systems. We do not manually inspect uploaded content unless we are legally compelled to or you explicitly send a sample with a support request.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies for two purposes:

  • Essential: Cookies required for the site to function, such as remembering your theme preference and securing the upload session.
  • Analytics (privacy-friendly): Aggregated, anonymised usage data to understand which features are used most. No cross-site tracking or advertising cookies are used.

You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings. The site will continue to work normally.

6. Third-party services

We rely on a small set of vetted vendors to host and operate the service. Typical categories include:

  • Cloud hosting and edge networks for the website and processing.
  • Email delivery for support replies.
  • Privacy-friendly analytics for aggregated usage statistics.
  • Error monitoring to identify and fix bugs.

These vendors only receive the minimum data needed to perform their function and are bound by data-processing agreements.

7. Data retention

  • Uploaded files: Deleted automatically after processing, typically within 1 hour. Not retained for backups or training.
  • Server logs: Kept for up to 30 days for security and debugging, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Support emails: Retained for up to 24 months unless you request earlier deletion.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at unmarkify@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Security

We protect data with industry-standard practices including HTTPS everywhere, encrypted storage at rest where applicable, restricted internal access on a need-to-know basis, and regular security reviews.

No system is perfectly secure
While we work hard to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your data may have been compromised, please contact us immediately.

10. Children’s privacy

Unmarkify is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will promptly delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the site or by email when applicable.
